Green Life (Mobile)

This project was developed as part of the GEMINI API Developer Competition 2024, where I contributed as the team's designer. My role focused on designing an AI-powered software solution aimed at promoting sustainability

The application enables users to scan trash or recyclable items using their mobile phones and receive a curated list of DIY (Do-It-Yourself) projects along with step-by-step instructions to repurpose these materials

Problem Statement
  • With increasing environmental concerns, there is a pressing need to encourage sustainable practices, including recycling and repurposing everyday waste. Many individuals lack the knowledge or motivation to recycle effectively or creatively reuse items, which contributes to the growing waste problem.
Research Method
  • Analyzed AI image recognition technologies to determine their feasibility for identifying various types of trash and recyclables.
  • Prototyped and tested the mobile design with potential users, focusing on usability, accuracy of item identification, and clarity of DIY instructions.
Findings
  • Users showed strong interest in solutions that make recycling engaging and actionable by providing immediate, creative ideas.
  • Accurate identification of recyclable materials through AI was critical to user satisfaction and trust in the solution
  • Clear, step-by-step DIY instructions significantly improved the platform’s usability and user engagement.
